Camp Throwback is a fan camp. Brittany Gibbons (blog/instagram) built the audience first (author and body-positivity blogger (Brittany, Herself)), then rented a camp for it. That order matters: everyone arrives already sharing the in-jokes, so the weekend skips the small talk that regular camps spend a day burning through.
Author and body-acceptance blogger Brittany Gibbons launched Camp Throwback in 2013 as a boozy, unapologetically nostalgic 21+ sleepaway in rural southwest Ohio, complete with drunk field day, theme parties, and crafts. Its first session sold out in 30 hours and 2017 tickets went in 20 minutes. No sessions are traceable after the late 2010s and campthrowback.com no longer resolves as of August 2026, so the camp appears defunct.
The experience
The format: 4-day sleepaway, two sessions per summer. It's a longer stay. The awkwardness burns off in the first day or so; the rest is pure camp. It's adults only: no kids programming, no family sessions mixed in.
