Woodstock icon Wavy Gravy's circus and performing-arts camp in Mendocino County has run a legendary grown-ups' session for decades, teaching trapeze, stilt-walking, juggling, and clowning to adults sleeping in tipis on Black Oak Ranch. For 2026 the traditional adult-camp window is instead hosting the camp's first Friends & Family Camp (June 18-21), so the adults-only edition is effectively on pause; the camp itself remains very much alive.

The experience

The format: annual long-weekend sleepaway (tipi camping). The weekend length keeps the ask small. Arrive Friday, hand your schedule to someone else, be home by Monday. Adults only, which changes the tone more than you might expect. Everyone there chose it for themselves.

Cost
